Govt. Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector – 8B, Chandigarh recognized by department of Education Chandigarh Administration was built in 1957. When the city beautiful was in its infancy and educational facilities were yet to come up. The school was then upgraded to Senior Secondary in 1982. The school strives to develop the various facets of child’s Personality through quality Education. Inherent Potential & Inborn Goodness of every child is brought into Play through sound foundation in academics, active Participation in sports, Arts & cultural activities. Initially started as Girls School at present is Co-Ed .with strength of nearly 2800 students. We Encourage children to take responsibility and develop a sense of respect for society & social causes. Thus year by year the students show excellence not only in academics but also in co curricular activities. Their growth is stimulated in a safe and conducive environment. Their talents are chanellized in fruitful manners and they become capable of taking the challenges of life.
It is a pace setting autonomous body catering to a wide cross-section of society. The school caters to the students of classes Nursery –XII. It has a Primary, Secondary and a Senior Secondary Department which offers Commerce, Science, Arts and Vocational as the streams of study. It is doing exceptionally well and has umpteen feathers in its cap not only in the field of academics but extracurricular activities as well.
